The bottom line is that this means that you never need to worry about changing templates in the future… you can just pick one and begin building knowing that your website will grow with you!

With Squarespace 7.1, while there are different looks to the site you start with, the functionality of your site won’t change based on the template you chose (when you set up a new trial site, Squarespace still calls these different starting options “templates” even though it’s really just different looks with the same functionality - similar to how we’ve built our templates here … our templates are just MUCH more creative + dynamic than Squarespace’s native templates!). If they wanted to move to a different template, they would essentially have to re-build their entire site from scratch.

This created a big problem when it came time for someone to update their site. In Squarespace 7.0 there were a lot of different template options and each template option had different functionality. There are no template options to worry about. Here’s a few things we love about Squarespace 7.1 But we’ll help you make that decision easier in this post. Some people love version 7.0 while others love the new features of 7.1… the choice really is up to you. This doesn’t mean that users on Squarespace 7.0 will receive all of the new updates to the platform (like the BRAND NEW fluid editor)… but they will still continue to support your site indefinitely. Just a note before we begin, Squarespace has promised to continue supporting websites built on the 7.0 version indefinitely. We’ll also lay out in simple terms, exactly how version 7.0 differs from version 7.1. In this post, we’re outlining the PROS and CONS of Squarespace 7.1. It added some great features, and it also took a few things away. This update changed how the platform (CMS) functions overall. In early 2020, Squarespace released their newest platform version, Squarespace 7.1. When we talk about Squarespace 7.0 vs Squarespace 7.1, we’re talking about the most recent version updates to the Squarespace platform.

So what does Squarespace 7.0 vs 7.1 mean?

Squarespace is just one of these content management systems (our fav actually! Check out why we love Squarespace here ). That meant that all of us ‘normal people’ were left unable to build our own sites… needing to pay top dollar to have someone else highly skilled build it for us.Įnter the world of CMS website building (and platforms like Wix, Wordpress, Weebly, Squarespace, etc) and now, normal, everyday people have resources they need to create a beautiful website without having to know code. This meant that only those with the proper knowledge and skills were able to build websites. When people first started developing websites wayyy back in the day… they used to build websites from scratch using code.

A CMS is software that helps users create, manage, and modify content on a website without the need for specialized technical knowledge. Squarespace is a content management system (CMS). If this is you, then keep reading because we’re going to break it down for you today! But if you’ve had a Squarespace website for years and you’re considering an update, then you might be wondering… should I switch to the newer version of Squarespace… 7.1?

If you’re new to Squarespace, then you probably won’t even know what version 7.0 vs 7.1 is all about.
